Project BIG-1, which started with the CB1000 SUPER FOUR released in 1992, continues to attract fans more than 30 years on. 2022 marks the 30th anniversary of the project celebrated by the limited releases of the CB1300 SUPER FOUR SP 30th Anniversary and CB1300 SUPER BOL D'OR SP 30th Anniversary editions. You have to forgive its name…. 'Project Big 1', and instead call it the 'Super Four'. For this is the Honda CB1000 - a bike powered by a detuned CBR1000F four-cylinder, given some quality parts in the chassis department (half-decent forks and Showa piggy-back rear shocks), but then cursed with a daft name and a short lifespan. Both are great bikes, but for different reasons. The CB1000 is sophisticated and well finished, but is a lot softer than the ZRX. It's more of a companion for laying down some miles or going for a pleasant evening ride than something I would want to take on a day ride with a bunch of sport bikes.

Make no mistake, this is a pretty large motorcycle: those are actually 18″ wheels front and rear, and the old-tech package weighed in at 542 lbs dry.
The CB's usually go for less than $3.5K which is about the same as a K100RS. But, the Honda invariably has fewer miles and would likely have lower maintenance costs.
