Packet Tracer 7.2.1 HSRP Configuration Packet Tracer Network

HSRP feature has been introduced in Packet Tracer 6.0. This protocol can be configured on every Cisco router available in Packet Tracer as well as on Cisco Catalyst 3560 layer 3 switch. HSRP preemption and interface tracking are supported in Packet Tracer 7.2.1 The following IOS commands are available : In this Packet Tracer activity, you will learn how to configure Hot Standby Router Protocol (HSRP) to provide redundant default gateway devices to hosts on LANs. After configuring HSRP, you will test the configuration to verify that hosts are able to use the redundant default gateway if the current gateway device becomes unavailable.

To enable HSRP debugging, you would simply use the debug standby command, which enabled output of HSRP state and packet information for all standby groups on all interfaces. A debug condition was added in Cisco IOS release 12.0(2.1) that allows the output from the standby debug command to be filtered based upon interface and group number. Career Resources HSRP Configuration and Load Balancing Explained This tutorial explains how to configure, verify, and debug the HSRP protocol on a Cisco router. Learn how to configure HSRP load balancing through a packet tracer example. HSRP (Hot Standby Router Protocol) is a Cisco proprietary protocol. This video walks through completing Packet Tracer 9.3.3 - HSRP Configuration Guide. This is part of the Switching, Routing, and Wireless Essentials version 7. The standby preempt command enables the Hot Standby Router Protocol (HSRP) router with the highest priority to immediately become the active router. Priority is determined first by the configured priority value, and then by the IP address. In each case, a higher value is of greater priority.

The first thing we'll do is enable HSRP. We will do this on the VLAN 1 interfaces of SW1 and SW2: SW1 & SW2 (config)#interface Vlan 1 (config-if)#standby 1 ip 192.168.1.254. Use the standby command to configure HSRP. 192.168.1.254 will be the virtual gateway IP address. The "1" is the group number for HSRP. HSRP Packet Tracer Example. Create a packet tracer lab as shown in the following image. This lab has three components: a local network, a WAN link, and a remote network. The local network is connected to the remote network through the WAN link. The local network has only one path to reach the remote network, and that path goes through the Router0. Today we'll do HSRP configuration. Hot Standby Router Protocol (HSRP) is a Cisco proprietary First Hop Redundancy Protocol (FHRP). In tutorial I will show you how to configure HSRP in Packet Tracer Cisco.Thank you for watching. In this Packet Tracer activity, you will learn how to configure Hot Standby Router Protocol (HSRP) to provide redundant default gateway devices to hosts on LANs. After configuring HSRP, you will test the configuration to verify that hosts are able to use the redundant default gateway if the current gateway device becomes unavailable. A HSRPv2 packet uses the type-length-value (TLV) format and has a 6-byte identifier field with the MAC address of the physical router that sent the packet.. HSRP provides routing redundancy for routing IPv6 traffic not dependent on the availability of any single router. IPv6 hosts learn of available routers through IPv6 neighbor discovery. Hot Standby Router Protocol (HSRP) is a CISCO proprietary protocol, which provides redundancy for a local subnet. In HSRP, two or more routers gives an illusion of a virtual router. HSRP allows you to configure two or more routers as standby routers and only a single router as an active router at a time.

Actually i've changed the track for Serial 0/0 by command: Router (config-if)#standby 1 track Serial 0/0. and when Serial 0/0 goes down it's decrease by ten the priority ! but even with this decrease, the router stays like active router instead standby router ! Maybe i can fix that by restart hsrp process but i don't know how ! I'm also adding the packet tracer file I'm working with, but empty as it's probably easier to do everything from zero than figure out my mess. Basically ISP1 is the main and ISP2 is a backup. ISP1 should always be the main one and become active once it's fixed. PC1-27, printers and AP's should be VLAN10. PC28-54 and servers should be VLAN20.
