Jeffrey Lionel Dahmer (May 21, 1960 - November 28, 1994), also known as the Milwaukee Cannibal or the Milwaukee Monster, was an American serial killer and sex offender who committed the murder and dismemberment of 17 men and boys between 1978 and 1991. Many of his later murders involved necrophilia, cannibalism, and the permanent preservation. Described as cripplingly shy, he collected bones of animals like cats, dogs, groundhogs, and others, then kept them in jars, as the Los Angeles Times reported in 1991. He sometimes preserved their bodies in formaldehyde and hunted the area for roadkill to keep. His childhood wasn't easy, though.
Dahmer lived in the Oxford Apartments, in apartment 213, which was located at 924 North 25th Street in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, per FBI records. He also lived at his grandmother's home for a while. At a casual glance, Jeffrey Dahmer's $300-a-month, one-bedroom furnished apartment appeared ordinary—a beige couch, a fish tank, an Oriental rug. Little did anyone suspect that the walls of Apartment 213 also held the sinister secrets of one of the most notorious serial killers in history.
