Identify the structures and major organs of the male reproductive system and describe their functions. 2. Trace the pathway of the sperm cells in the organ system. 3. What is the MALE REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM? 4. The two main functions of the male reproductive system are to produce and store sperm and transfer them to the female's body during sexual intercourse. The function of the male reproductive system ( Figure 27.2) is to produce sperm and transfer them to the female reproductive tract. The paired testes are a crucial component in this process, as they produce both sperm and androgens, the hormones that support male reproductive physiology. In humans, the most important male androgen is testosterone. 2. Male reproductive (Acessory glands, Urethra and penis) Dr. Mohammad Mahmoud • 2.9K views. Organs of the Reproductive System_Edited.ppt. The male reproductive system includes a group of organs that make up the reproductive system and urinary system in men and people assigned male at birth (AMAB). The male reproductive system contains internal and external parts. Internal parts are inside your body, and external parts are outside your body. Together, these organs help you urinate. This Osmosis High-Yield Note provides an overview of Male Reproductive System essentials. All Osmosis Notes are clearly laid-out and contain striking images, tables, and diagrams to help visual learners understand complex topics quickly and efficiently. Anatomy & Physiology of the Male Reproductive System
The reproductive system is a collection of internal and external organs — in both males and females — that work together for the purpose of procreating. Due to its vital role in the survival of the species, many scientists feel that the reproductive system is among the most important systems in the entire body. The male sex organs comprise a complex arrangement of internal and external genital organs. Their function is concerned with reproduction and sexual pleasure. The internal genital organs are the male gonads ( testis ), epididymis, a series of ducts and the accessory glands. The penis and scrotum compose the external sexual organs. 4. Anatomy of the Male Reproductive System External genitalia (can be seen on the body surface) penis Scrotum Internal genitalia (can't be seen on the body surface) sperm producing organs testes ducts that move sperm from the testes out of the body epididymis vas (ductus) deferens Urethra exocrine glands (ACCESSORY SEX GLANDS) that secrete fluids into the ducts adding to the sperm to make. The male reproductive organs include the testes (the central male sex organs), the vas deferens, the ejaculatory ducts, the penis, and the accessory glands, which include the prostate and bulbourethral glands (Figure 8-1).The testes consist of numerous lobules made of convoluted tubes (tubuli seminiferi) supported by loose connective tissue.
