1966 Marcos 1500GT, still with the early doorhandle design In 1966 the GT was changed to a pushrod inline-four Ford Kent engine of 1500 cc, in order to lower costs as the 1800 had been rather too expensive to market. The Marcos 1500 GT was launched in 1966, mainly due to diminishing sales and production costs of the 1800, - the whole manufacturing process was streamlined. The introduction of Ford's 1500 GT engine fitted in perfectly with this new model. With 85bhp in standard form, and less weight than the 1800, this became a popular model.
