The Greek god Apollo crash-lands in a pile of garbage in a New York City alley. Apollo knows that his father, Zeus, is punishing him, but his mortal mind can't remember any details. The last two times he was punished with mortality, Apollo had to work for a demigod until he'd completed a set of trials and Zeus allowed him to return to Olympus. Meg and Apollo reach Camp Half-Blood, where Meg is claimed by Demeter. They later encounter Nero who reveals that he told Meg to lure Apollo to the Grove of Dodona, which Nero attempts to burn down. Peaches stops him whilst Meg (who begins to question her loyalty to Nero) and Apollo place wind chimes in the grove and hear a prophecy. Here, he meets Meg McCaffrey. Believing that he must only undertake a simple quest to regain his immortality, Apollo and Meg travel to Camp Half-Blood with the help of Percy Jackson, where they learn that most of the world's oracles have stopped working. With the aid of Percy Jackson, Apollo and Meg get as far as the western border of Camp Half-Blood before they're attacked. They survive with nothing worse than a nasty head cold.
