Pond's multi-instrumentalist Jay Watson and frontman/multi-instrumentalist Nick Allbrook have both come from the Tame Impala finishing school (the former is still a full-time member of both bands). But while Pond share some of their dreamlike psychedelia, they have followed their own path, a journey that continues in fine style on their. Pond is fronted by Nick Albrook, Tame Impala's lead guitarist, and features Tame drummer Jay Watson on guitar, too. Pond—not to be mistaken with the late-'90s Sub Pop band of the same name.
While Pond technically shares some members with Tame Impala, there's an important distinction. On Tame Impala albums, Kevin Parker does everything.he writes all the songs, does all the vocals, plays all the instruments, and produces them. Pond's unique relationship to Tame Impala's Kevin Parker also made comparisons inevitable — members of Pond have performed alongside Parker in Tame Impala live shows, and Parker himself was a member of Pond in some capacity until 2019. For what it's worth, Parker's direct influence on Pond is responsible for some of their best material.
