The Rover 75 V8 retains the elegant and clean design of the original 75, but with some subtle refinements. The front end has received a minor re-work with tweaks to the grille to give the car a somewhat more imposing presence and along with some less subtle re-badging such as the mustang badge on the rear, the car makes a very good first impression. In the 75, the 2.5-litre V6 put out 175bhp, but in the ZT it was either 160 or 190 - the latter good enough for 140mph and 0-60mph in 8.5 secs. The changes to the MG even included making the gearchange sportier; aluminium instead of rubber mounts for the subframes; 70% stiffer springs, uprated dampers and anti-roll bars; and bigger brakes.
In the summer of 2001, a Tourer estate was added to the range and in 2002 the inefficient 2.0-litre V6 was replaced with a turbocharged variant of the 1.8 engine. 2004 saw the Rover 75 undergo a major facelift. Soon after, a V8 model was introduced which used a 4.6-litre 260bhp Mustang-sourced engine also used in the ZT 260. The Rover 75 is an executive car produced initially by the Rover Group at Cowley, Oxfordshire, UK, and later by MG Rover at their Longbridge site in Birmingham, UK. The Rover 75 was available with front-wheel drive in either a saloon or estate body and latterly, in long wheelbase form and a rear-wheel-drive, V8-engined specification.

The 75 joined the choir invisible in 2005 as MG Rover sadly departed from volume car production.. The Rover 75 was created to 'give owners that special. MG ROVER'S MUSTANG MUSCLE When MG Rover neared the end it turned things up a notch and unleashed the 75 V8, ZT 260 and Xpower SV-R. From the inside, apart from the soft burble, the only giveaway that you're driving an MG ZT 260 and not a Rover 75 is the subtle V8 badge on the dashboard where a cold/warm air switch originally sat (and.
