How do I generate a sphere mesh in Unity? Ask Question Asked 5 years ago Modified 4 years, 11 months ago Viewed 14k times 2 I'm making a game and I need a way to generate a sphere mesh in Unity for whatever reason. It needs to be generated by code and not be a pre-made sphere or a sphere primitive as I need to edit in generation later on. unity procedurally generate a sphere mesh Ask Question Asked 13 years, 2 months ago Modified 4 years, 1 month ago Viewed 35k times 33 i am looking for an algorithm ( in pseudo code) that generates the 3d coordinates of a sphere mesh like this: the number of horizontal and lateral slices should be configurable 3d mesh Share Follow

GameObject.CreatePrimitive. using UnityEngine; using System.Collections; // Creates a sphere primitive public class ExampleClass : MonoBehaviour { void Start() { GameObject sphere = GameObject. Meshes contain vertices and multiple triangle arrays. Conceptually, all vertex data is stored in separate arrays of the same size. For example, if you have a mesh of 100 Vertices, and want to have a position, normal and two texture coordinates for each vertex, then the mesh should have vertices, normals, uv and uv2 arrays, each being 100 in size. . Data for i-th vertex is at index "i" in each a Mar 27, 2021 Spheres are one of the most basic geometric shapes we can think of. However, there are a variety of methods for generating surface meshes of a sphere. In this brief tutorial, I will describe four of them: UV sphere Icosphere Quad sphere Goldberg polyhedra published 2022-01-31 UV Sphere Wrapping a Grid Around a Sphere Visualize vertex data via gizmos. Wrap a square grid around a sphere. Eliminate degenerate triangles and unused vertices. Use lat/lon maps and cube maps to texture a sphere. This is the fifth tutorial in a series about procedural meshes.

Today we'll learn how to program an application of computer graphics; this is an introduction to procedural programming in the game dev industry. Want to lea. Meshes make up a large part of your 3D worlds. Unity supports triangulated or Quadrangulated polygon meshes. Nurbs, Nurms, Subdiv surfaces must be converted to polygons. More info See in Glossary asset represents a mesh in your Unity project. Unity has a few built-in meshes of simple shapes, including a cube and a sphere. Other meshes can be bought, downloaded, or made yourself and then imported into a project. But it is also possible to create a mesh on-demand at runtime via code, which is what this series is about. Such meshes are known as procedural, because they're generated via. A Mesh The main graphics primitive of Unity. Meshes make up a large part of your 3D worlds. Visualize the mapping in Unity. Critically examine the conversion. Use math to come up with a better approach. In this tutorial we'll create a sphere mesh based on a cube, then use mathematical reasoning to improve it. This tutorial follows Rounded Cube. It has been made for Unity 5.0.1 and up. Jun 10, 2017 Posts: 7 I'm trying to learn more about mesh generation and texturing, following along with Sebastian Lague's tutorials for creating a planet sphere from an inflated cube. I've got the mesh working, and now I'm trying to set the UVs so I can texture it properly. Consider Unity's default sphere mesh. Its topology is known as a UV sphere. It's basically a rectangular grid that's wrapped around a sphere and compressed into a single point at the poles. Thus the vertical lines have constant longitude and the horizontal lines have constant latitude.

QuarterMillion March 1, 2022, 2:14pm 3 I know this is an old thread but I would do this: GameObject obj = GameObject.CreatePrimitive (PrimitiveType.Sphere); Mesh mesh = Instantiate (obj.GetComponent
().mesh); Destroy (obj); What it does is it creates a copy of only the mesh of the Primitive and destroys the original source object. Navmesh / pathfinding on a sphere will_brett Joined: Feb 16, 2013 Posts: 208 Hey everyone, Is there a plugin or simple way to get pathfinding to work on a sphere?
