Make sure your board is set to the Arduino Uno in the "Tool->Board" menu and the serial port is selected correctly in "Tool->Serial Port". 3. Click the "Upload" and GRBL should compile and flash to your Arduino! Note: flashing with a programmer also works.

CNC Shield V3.0 can be used as drive expansion board for engraving machine, 3D printer and other devices. There're 4 slots in the board for stepper motor drive modules, can drive 4 stepper motors, and each step stepper motor only need two IO port, that is to say, 6 IO ports can quite well to manage three stepper motor, it's very convenient to use. That reads GRBL G-code files through a microSD card module and controls the stepper motors through a CNC shield with A4988 stepper drivers. There is also a simple Arduino Nano-based controller interface made with a 16×2 character LCD, button, and rotary encoder. 0:00 / 18:10 Arduino CNC Shield V3 and A4988 Hybrid Stepper Motor Driver, CNC Shield pinout, wiring, code, DIY Electronic Clinic 72K subscribers Subscribe Subscribed 2.4K Share 184K. It uses opensource firmware on Arduino to control 4 stepper motors using 4 pieces of A4988 Stepper Motor driver breakout board, with this shield and ArduinoUno/Mega, you can build all kinds of robotics, linear motion project or projects including CNC routers, laser cutters and even pick&place machines. The A4988 stepper motor drivers have to be plugged on the shield. When plugging in the A4988 drivers, pay attention to the pinout. The enable pin is marked with EN on the board. The board can be operated with GRBL open source (G-code control) software. A4988 is what RAMPS 1.4 suggests and since your motor looks similar, I'd go with what your shield documentation recommends. I suspect that the advice you were given is because the driver can't supply the maximum rated current for your motor. I'm not convinced that matters here. matt_johnson1253 April 15, 2021, 1:07pm 3 Thanks for the reply.
