The EB-3. The Gibson EB-3 was brought into production in 1961, along with the introduction of the SG-style body. It's pretty much the same as an EB-0, with the addition of a mini humbucker in the bridge position (along with the accompanying volume and tone knobs), plus a rotary tone knob (similar to a Varitone). The Gibson EB-0 (usually pronounced, and sometimes written EBO) was first produced in early 1959, being shown at the Summer music trade fairs of that year priced at $180. It was announced to dealers in advance in the May/June issue of Gibson Gazette; Thrilling new EB-0 electric bass. The EB-0 basses produced from this time, and up until 1961. This EB-0 is a relatively rare instrument, one of the VERY first of the SG-style body bass models ever built. It dates to spring 1961, when the model had. Gibson's first commercially successful electric bass model, the EB-0, was introduced in 1959. In early 1961 the EB-0's body was changed from the older Les Paul Jr shape to the new SG style along with many other solidbody models. This example dates from the middle of 1961 and is among the earliest we've encountered to feature the SG body.
