The casks are predominantly European oak, which often lends a different character to whiskey than American oak (less vanilla, more fruit). Palate: Quite dry, with a big hit of vanilla, some dried fruit (dates and raisins), a little nuttiness and a rich caramel. Finish: A slightly thin note creeps in, but the palate is left with a dry, slightly spicy oak, alongside the dried fruit. Comment: Well rounded and nicely balanced, despite a slight off note at the beginning. Score: 8.1. 8.6.
