I think they just dropped the "SiR" part of it around 1998 when the S-Spec was introduced. For the Type S you have the front lip, different interior to the SiR, Enkeis, flush mount rear spoiler, mandatory sunroof delete, and 220 HP red top engine/ATTS setup.
