Funny Papers is a fun ESL game where students are asked to fill in the blank speech bubbles of a comic strip. Using the Sunday funny papers or some blank comic strips online, white out the text of each character's speech bubbles or dialogue boxes. Make enough copies for your class. Challenge them to find a pen and draw a picture on the whiteboard, or instead of collecting things, have them take objects to certain locations in the room. Pre-teach words like "go forward", "turn left", "crouch down", etc. 3. Advanced bingo. Bingo is an EFL/ESL teacher's favourite. 3. Connect the Dots: This Word Goes With That Picture. 5. Hangman. This ESL warm up activity is a classic for a reason. If you don't know the rules of hangman, they're simple: the teacher (or an appointed student) draws a "gallows" on the board (or in an online portal) and creates dotted lines for each letter in the word they've chosen below, like so: 12. Pouch Of Mysterious Words - A fun speaking game. The objective is to create sentences and create a story with the words drawn from the pouch. 1. Have each student draw three concentric circles on a blank piece of paper. 2. Pick a topic for the round (favorite food, favorite season, etc.) and have students write it in the center circle. 3. They should label the second circle "Love," the third circle "Like" and the space outside the circles "Don't Like.". 4.
Interesting activities for kids
Sometimes, putting pen to paper is the best way to improve your English skills. One popular English learning activity is creative writing. Whether you choose the topic on your own or work from a writing prompt, creative writing is a great way to practice your English writing skills and express yourself at the same time. Give students a presentation of a topic of your choosing, perhaps your own hobby and model the format and language that you want the students to use. I tend to share slides with the student with the title of each slide already inserted. Students then have to fill the space with suitable information for that slide.
