The owner and operator of this system is Port Authority of Allegheny County (PAT). Pittsburgh's light rail, also known as The T, covers 42.16 kilometers (26.19 miles) across three lines and 53 stations. The system is divided into two sections: the first being the subway, which operates underground in the city's downtown, and the second is the light rail that operates above ground through the southern neighborhoods.
