Otherwise I am hearing just Lou and a guitar. Here's my top 5: Loaded. The Velvet Underground & Nico. The Velvet Underground. Another View. White Light/ White Heat. This post assumes that you know of the history behind the Velvet Underground. If not, read the extra material that comes along with the newer releases of VU&N and maybe some of the original reviews in their entirety. I already know that you've listened to them, you're on a music discussion forum! So, I love VU&N and White Light/White Heat. The VELVET UNDERGROUND officially re-formed for Channel 4 in a one-off gig in Paris on June 15, 1990, while CALE and REED had of course, already re-united for a tribute album `Songs For Drella' (1990), dedicated to the late Andy Warhol who died a few years earlier. The VU live shows of June 15-17, 1993, were apparently rather joyous. THE VELVET UNDERGROUND is a much more laid back and soft approach, but the bands progressive tendencies shine in what is perhaps their boldest experiment. "Murder Mystery." The music is eerie and abrasive, and there are two people talking at the same time during the verses. At first, the effect is quite disorienting and chaotic, but once. Emerging from the primordial soup of glamour, gutter sleaze, and feverish creativity that was New York's 1960s underground culture, the Velvet Underground redefined music with its at once raw and exalted blend of experimentation and art-damaged rock and roll.

The Velvet Underground created a new sound that changed the world of music, cementing its place as one of rock 'n' roll's most revered bands. Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Todd Haynes, The Velvet Underground shows just how the group became a cultural touchstone representing a range of contradictions: the band is both of their time, yet. THE VELVET UNDERGROUND is Haynes's first documentary. Affonso Gonçalves has edited over forty films, including three Sundance Film Festival winners: Benh Zeitlin's BEASTS OF THE SOUTHERN WILD, Debra Granik's WINTER'S BONE, and Ira Sachs' FORTY SHADES OF BLUE.
