Daisy Makeig-Jones (1881-1945) is perhaps best known for her Fairyland Lustre wares, lavishly-decorated pieces which depicted fantastical scenes of her own imagination. Lesser discussed, however, are her early pieces, referred to as Ordinary Lustres or China Lustres. Though monikered "ordinary," these non-Fairyland lustres were anything but. The line was designed by an eccentric woman named Daisy Makeig-Jones, an artist who talked her way into a job as an apprentice painter for Wedgwood, and then convinced management that she. Because of her early retirement scarcity plays a large part in boosting saleroom prices for Fairyland Lustre and very little actually comes to the market. Fairyland lustre ware is the type of item that can be overlooked at an auction. Curations No Ordinary Lustre: Daisy Makeig-Jones's China Lustres Daisy Makeig-Jones was the first staff female designer at Wedgwood.
