John Patitucci (born December 22, 1959) is an American jazz bassist and composer. Biography John James Patitucci was born in Brooklyn, New York. [1] He began playing the electric bass at age 10, performing and composing at age 12, and at age 15, started playing the acoustic bass, as well as piano by age 16. Wayne Shorter's passing brings to mind and heart, so many memories, from the first time I heard him (at age 8 on Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers recording "Mosaic") to the 36+ years I have been blessed to know him.

July of 2021 found John Patitucci on tour in Italy with Chris Potter on saxophones and Brian Blade on drums. Patitucci says, "The tour in 2021 in Italy was an incredible experience with my two dear friends, who happen to be some of the greatest musicians in the history of jazz music. John Patitucci was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1959 and began playing the electric bass at age ten. He quickly moved from playing soul and rock to blues, jazz and classical music. Patitucci's compositions are pretty good, too, thoughtful and not too reliant upon jazz-rock cliches.
