The Pentax 6×7 (called "Pentax 67" after 1990) is a SLR medium format system film camera for 120 and 220 film, which produces images on the film that are nominally 6 cm by 7 cm in size (actual image on the film is 56 mm × 70 mm), made by Pentax. It originally debuted in 1965 as a prototype dubbed the Pentax 220. The camera was able to use 220 film as well, though this feature is now moot as 220 film is no longer manufactured. There are four models in the Pentax 67 range. As it says in its name, the Pentax 6×7 creates a massive 6×7 negative. That equates to a mere 10 shots per roll of 120, and 21 on a roll of 220. In total, there are 4 iterations of this camera: Pentax 6×7 (released in 1969) Pentax 6×7 w/ mirror lock-up (MLU) - pictured above (released 1976) Pentax 67 (released 1990) Pentax 67ii (released 1999)

The meter is accurate with the useful exposure lock and spot feature. Aperture priority makes this camera very convenient to use. The focus screen is twice as bright at the 6x7/67 models. The exposure compensation dial makes the use of filters easy (with yellow K2 on lens and B&W film, use +1/3). An older Pentax 6x7 can still be had for under $500, and many of the lenses for around $300 (even one of the sharpest lenses in the catalog - the 75mm f/4.5 - can be had for $100-200). So do you get in now before they climb even higher? Let's review this beast and find out if it's the workhorse you're missing.
