For the install you'll need your wrenches or a socket set, a grinder or something for cutting the old brake and gear pedal, a drill press, some Loctite and a set of Allen keys. Here's the installation process broken down in to steps: Start by loosely assembling the rear sets. As you can all see, the bike is sporting some extreme stopping power with a 320mm Brembo front rotor, Tokico caliper, the rear is completely Brembo, Aluminum rear sprocket, X-ring chain, the lovely aluminum rear swingarm, S&W shocks (I used to deal in those back in the 80's), Integrated turn signals front and rear (yes, the front ones are built. The idea was dreamt up after the donor for the project, a 1980 Yamaha XS650 Special, was acquired from a friend. The XS had been sitting neglected but Hoshi-san saw potential in the bike thanks to a recently rebuilt engine. To ensure it had enough grunt for the race track Hoshi-san kicked things off with a few performance upgrades. The XS650 was treated to a full rebuild with a 700 cc Hoos Racing kit, a ported head, upgraded cams, and nickel plating on the outside. It also now has a hydraulic clutch, thanks to a conversion that uses a Ducati GT1000 slave cylinder. The motor inhales via a pair of Mikuni VM34 carbs and a custom two-into-one intake.
