Lupton is an historic manor in the parish of Brixham, Devon. The surviving manor house known as Lupton House, is a Palladian Country house built by Charles II Hayne (1747-1821), [1] Sheriff of Devon in 1772 [2] and Colonel of the North Devon Militia. It received a Grade II* listing in 1949. In 1933, the young man found himself head over heels for Joan Yarde-Buller, an English socialite.and the wife of Loel Guinness, heir to the Guinness empire. When Aly first met the beautiful Joan at a dinner party, he was reportedly so taken with her, he leaned over and said, "Darling, will you marry me?"
