One special feature of the earliest of MGB is that early radiator surrounds did not have a large hole on the left side, roughly corresponding to the end of the front air filter for cool air passage to the filters and carburetors. Originally the LUCAS ignition coil was located very close to the distributor on a bracket that was attached to the engine support. This bracket was exclusively applied for the Mark 1 MGB, 3 synchro cars built from 1962 until October 1967. This bracket was removed during the design of the Mark 2 MGB to simplify maintenance. The wiring in my engine bay has always looked a bit different to others that I've seen at shows - mind you there seems to be difference between the others as well. One of the reasons the engine bay of the MGB was so wide was to accommodate the Twin Cam cylinder head of the MGA Twin Cam. But many development and reliability problems sent BMC scurrying away from the powerful but problematic engine. #1 I am looking for color pictures of an original (or restored to original) '73 MGB engine bay so I can get the fasteners, hoses,paint, etc. right. FWIW, here are some pics of my '71 engine bay. A PO painted it black, and I've learned to live with that. The evap system was completely refurbished - I didn't want my clothes reeking of gasoline fumes.
