Midwinter pottery was originally founded in 1910 by William Robinson Midwinter in Stoke on Trent. Vintage 1950s RARE Midwinter Pottery Test / Trial Pattern Etsy
Midwinter Pottery was founded in 1910 as W R Midwinter, by William Robinson Midwinter. Based in Burslem, in the Stoke-on-Trent area it became one of England's largest potteries by the late 1930's and employed more than 700 people. A pattern name, applied separately, usually accompanies the basic mark. 1946-1953. Post-Second World War There are a range of post-Second World War marks and most marks include the company's longstanding 'Porcelon' trade mark. W. R. Midwinter Ltd was originally a manufacturer of Rockingham teapots, tea wares and toilet wares. During the 1920s and 1930s the firm became well known for its semi-porcelain dinnerware and tea and coffee ware marketed using the 'Porcelon' trade name. These wares were decorated in conservative style except for some art deco inspired. Super-rare Midwinter Pottery 'September Song' serving platter in beautiful bold retro floral pattern in Autumnal shades of orange, yellow, red and brown. A very hard to find pattern on this shape, September Song was designed in 1967 by British ceramics design icon Jessie Tait, and epitomises the retro 60s flower power look. The Midwinter factory was started in 1910 by Roy Midwinter's father, William Robinson Midwinter. originally located at the Bournes Bank pottery. the factory quickly outgrew the space and moved to the Albion Pottery in 1914.
