WHAT'S ON HOLIDAY MUSICAL You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown Charlie Brown is five years old and trying his best. Upstairs at the Gatehouse is an award-winning Off West End theatre with a varied programme of musicals, drama, and more. Situated at the summit of Highgate Hill, they really are London's Top Theatre! The venue first opened in 1997 on the site of what was once a Victorian Music hall. Since then, it has become an integral part of the theatre.
John and Katie Plews, having spent the last 25 years of their working lives turning Upstairs at the Gatehouse in Highgate Village into the successful and much-loved community theatre it is now, are retiring in February and want to go out on a high. So this year's Christmas show, Summer in the City, is a delightful, sensitive, affectionate. The Highgate Literary and Scientific Institution's inaugural meeting took place in the pub on 16th January 1839. At the turn of the century The Gatehouse was famous all over London for its "shilling ordinaries", gigantic lunches. In 1905 the building was renovated in the mock Tudor style that remains today.
