Perfect for any chocolate lover, it's moist, buttery, and extremely rich and chocolatey. In the bowl of a stand mixer (or using beaters), cream the softened butter with the sugars until light and fluffy. Mix in the eggs, one at a time on low speed, then add the vanilla extract and sour cream. On medium speed, mix in the melted chocolate and coffee. Finally add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture in about 2 or three batches. Bake the chocolate cake at 345° F (175°C) for about 25-35 minutes, the time really depends on the oven. The cake is cooked when it detaches from the sides, a nice crust forms, and a cake tester inserted in the center comes out clean. Remove from the oven and let cool on a rack.

Double Chocolate Layer Cake

To begin, combine the dry ingredients together in a medium bowl. Whisk well to combine. Next, cream the butter and sugar until very light and fluffy, about 5 minutes. Meanwhile, whisk together the egg whites and milk. Be sure the eggs are at room temperature, otherwise your batter may curdle. Line bottoms with rounds of parchment paper and grease paper. Place chopped chocolate in large bowl and pour hot coffee over it. Let sit together for 4 to 5 minutes, then whisk until chocolate is smooth. Whisk in sugar, salt, oil, buttermilk, and vanilla until combined. Whisk in eggs, one at a time.
