Dora started the group known as the McKameys with Carol, Peg, and Dora. She later became an RN and earned a master's degree. She loved working with people and later retired as a school nurse. She was the oldest of twelve children. She belonged to Jarnigan Chapel Church and loved attending there and loved her church family. It's been 65 years since sisters Dora, Peg and Carol McKamey began traveling and sharing the gospel through song. Peg's the only sister left still touring with the group. The McKamey's Farewell Tour brought them to Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium in Spartanburg, South Carolina, on Sept. 13.
