Named for the lack of glacial "drifts" during the last glaciation period, the area is unusually filled with limestone hills and filtered aquifers well-suited to everything from trout fishing to wine-making. Driftless Glen is a distillery set in the hillsides of Wisconsin, next to the Baraboo River in the Driftless Region. Their small batch bourbon is a 96 proof bourbon with no age statement, but is aged at least two years. It is double distilled in a column still, and then aged in new American oak barrels. This comes from Driftless Glen Distillery in Baraboo, Wisconsin. My state is known for it's beer, but this bottle of bourbon surprised me. The bottle design is stellar.

The bottle itself is Driftless Glen's Straight Bourbon Whiskey, finished for six months in a 59-gallon French oak barrel that had matured Turkish Apricot Brandy for six years. Turkey is famous for that beautiful summery stonefruit, and while apricot brandy might not be the go-to pour it was decades ago, it's still damn tasty.
