Angie This sweet Orpington duck was found in a Queens neighborhood near a park. She was following the children around! The folks who found her wanted to find a beautiful place where this little cutie could live out her life with other duck friends she could play with. We happily welcomed this adorable duck to our family in June of 2022. Our Mission. Our mission at Majestic Waterfowl Sanctuary is to stop the vicious cycle of waterfowl abandonment. The park is very big and has many picnic tables , 2 horseshoe pits, 2 bocce ball courts, a wonderful gazebo area over looking the large lawn, walking trails, a tree grove, a large open grassy area, and best of all a beautiful pond that is full of ducks and geese. Surrounding Island Park is the Alpena Wildlife Sanctuary, a 500-acre area of low islands and backwaters. Several paths lead through the various ecosystems — marshes, meadows, sand dunes, woodlands — that are protected within the sanctuary.
