Radiant Feathered Star with Tulip Applique by Marsha McCloskey Star

First is the LeMoyne Star approach, which leaves an 8-sided center. The larger you make the overall block, the larger the center will be, which allows more room intricate piecing in the centers. This can be ideal for medallion style quilts, like Feathered Star Medallion. The other approach to Feathered Stars is grid-based. This pattern breaks down the seemingly complex block into somewhat small, easy-to-sew segments. Those segments are joined by easy straight seams to form a 9-patch before the whole block comes together. As the clever (or not - ha!) name so clearly indicates: there are no y-seams! Helllllo, cute & tiny patches! This is the 8" version of the block.
