In Stamps, The Liberty Bell Is Forever CBS News
The original forever stamp is worth more today than it was on the day of the postal service announcement on April 12, 2007. Then, a first-class stamp cost 41 cents. Since a forever stamp is designed to always be worth one first-class stamp, that stamp is now worth 55 cents, which is what a first-class stamp costs as of June 2021. For several years, the Liberty Bell was the only Forever stamp, and other stamps of the time were issued with the current denominations. In 2010, the USPS released a new Forever stamp, picturing pinecones on evergreen trees. And two months later, they issued the Lady Liberty and Flag Forever stamps. Forever Stamp Fact Sheet The first Forever Stamp went on sale in April 2007 and it featured an image of the Liberty Bell. In 2011, all first-class one ounce stamps became forever stamps with the exception of stamps in coils of 500, 3,000, and 10,000. The first Forever stamp, issued in 2007, was an image of the Liberty Bell. Forever stamps are purchased at the current First-Class Mail postage price and remain valid for full postage no matter how prices change. * | Tags: Stamps
