The manufactured stone facade we have on the lake side of the house is finally painted, so we are looking at a gorgeous charcoal grey painted stone exterior and matching chimney these days! Although the house exterior is a looonng way from being completed and we're still looking at a massive exterior renovation looming in our future, I am so happy with this tiny bit of progress. Always clean brick well before painting (just water works great), allow 24 hours to dry. Keep in mind that painted interior brick vs exterior painted brick should be treated differently. Mineral paint soaks into the brick and it easy to touch up, a flat finish and is best for exterior! Thick brushes worked best for our stone. However, if you have brick, we hear a thick roller (1.25″) can work. We tried that and it helped some but ultimately we needed that thick brush for the little grooves. Let it dry and then observe it with the lighting of the day and then keep going until it looks even to you.
