The 11,000-square-foot facility will reinvigorate a core pillar of the SM&NC's Mission and bring our organization's Planetarium and Observatory programs under the same roof for the first time in our 87. Since 1955, the museum's land holdings have grown to 118 acres with a large animal exhibit space, playground, and the trails I mentioned, coursing up to and through Bartlett Arboretum in North Stamford. If we want to get technical, the animal space is called the Hecksher Farm and the nature center is the Overbrook Nature Center. The Planetarium & Astronomy Center and the Knobloch Family Farmhouse, which opened in 2018, are part of the SM&NC's visionary master plan to build future capacity for the museum's educational and public spaces. The Stamford Museum and Nature Center is expecting the Planetarium & Astronomy Center to open in September/October 2024.
