Chinchilla is a fair sized town located about 290km west of Brisbane in Queensland. About 9km south of town is the Chinchilla Weir, which has a fantastic Free Camping area. There are even 10 powered slots available! That'd have to be the first Free Camp we've come across with power. Camping at Chinchilla Weir is free for a maximum of 2 nights but donations to help with the costs of providing the power and general upkeep of the camping area are greatly appreciated and can be left at the Chinchilla Visitors Information Centre. There is some mobile phone service (depending on your carrier) and television reception here.
