April 21, 2023 Media Release Surrey, B.C. - As the City moves forward to restart Surrey City Development Corporation (SCDC), Surrey Council has approved the appointment of Michael Heeney to the position of Interim President & Chief Executive Officer, effective April 17. The rebirth of Surrey City Development Corporation (SCDC) is anticipated to be realized before the end of the year. Surrey City Council is expected to provide City of Surrey staff with the green light today to resurrect SCDC, which was dissolved in 2020 by then-Mayor Doug McCallum and his Safe Surrey Coalition councillors. Appoint Jeff Arason as President of Surrey City Development Corporation ("SCDC") effective January 1, 2021; Appoint the directors and signing authorities as detailed in Appendix "II" effective January 1, 2021; and Set the term for SCDC's independent Directors to end on December 31, 2020. The Surrey City Investment Corporation is described as "an investment holding entity set up for mixed-use real estate development projects" that is 100% owned by the SCDC. The Grove LP and GP were established in September 2011 and are each 50% owned by the SCDC. The remaining 50% appears to be owned by the City.
