The spectacular Sigmund Thun in Kaprun
The Sigmund Thun Klamm is situated five minutes south of Kaprun. From Zell am See, you can get to the gorge in fifteen minutes. You can park your car at the entrance or at one of the bigger parking lots further south. Location: Kesselfallstraße, 5710 Kaprun, Austria Opening hours and tickets The gorge is closed in winter. Sigmund Thun Gorge is open Mid-May to Mid-October each year from 8.30am-5pm (7pm in July + August). The Sigmund Thun gorge is a one way route, which takes you from the entry point, along the boardwalk and then out to the wall of the dam for the river which has created a small lake.
The Sigmund Thun Gorge is suitable for the whole family (dogs are also allowed) and illustrates the incredible powers of nature. Over time, the Kapruner Ache has made its way into the rocks and formed whirlpools and smooth areas. There is an entrance fee to visit the gorge (see tips).
