First Look. The Humber scout car was a combination of Karrier KT4 artillery tractor chassis and an armored body produced by Guy Armored Car. Production of the type started in 1941, with deliveries later in the year to support the 11th Hussars in North Africa. This first variant of the Humber was with one 15mm and one 7.92mm machine guns. Bronco's kit comes in a sturdy box with a drawing of a Humber Scout Car overtaking some Sherman Firefly tanks on a dirt road, straight out of the movie "A Bridge Too Far". In fact, the scout car commander in the drawing IS a dead ringer for Michael Caine, one of the film's stars, no coincidence I would say. The result was the Humber Scout Car MkI, which appeared in early 1943. The Humber Scout Car MkI was powered by a 87 bhp Rootes 6-cylinder engine, which gave a top speed of 104 km/h on road, and a range of 320 kilometers. Armour was a maximum of 14mm and the combat weight was 3,390kg.
