The Battle of Stone Arabia was a fight on October 19 in 1780 between a local militia led by John Brown and a raiding party from Canada led by John Johnson, former local scion. It was a low moment in a war of attrition for control of the western edge of the new nation during the revolutionary war. Stone Arabia Stone Church Stone Arabia is a small hamlet in the Town of Palatine, at the intersection of NY-10 and County Rd. 34 in Montgomery County. If you were in downtown Albany, you could drive northwest to Stone Arabia in about an hour. This hamlet doesn't really county as technically being a "town" because of its extremely small population.

This article breathes new life into these long ago consequential events. For a few years just before the Revolution, Stone Arabia was given as a name to that section later to be called the Palatine District extending from the Nose to the Falls and northward to Canada, but on March 8, 1773, it lost this wider application and from that time was confined to the patent. The most important royal grants of lands in the Mohawk Valley, were the Schenectady Patent of 1684, the Stone Arabia Patent of 1723, and the Burnetsfield or German Flats Patent of 1725.

Reformed Dutch Church of Stone Arabia, also known as Stone Arabia Reformed Church, is a historic Dutch Reformed church located near Nelliston in Stone Arabia, Montgomery County, New York. It was built in 1788 and is a simple rectangular building constructed of cut limestone blocks. It has a somewhat flattened gable roof and a belfry. The Battle of Stone Arabia was brief. After Brown's vanguard collided with a detachment of Brant's Volunteers, Brown ordered his men into a less than ideal defensive position in the woods behind a stone fence. They were subsequently attacked from the left by Brant's Volunteers and from the right by Butler's Rangers.
